Village Board appoints new Police Chief

Plainfield – Mayor Argoudelis and the Board of Trustees appointed Robert Miller as Plainfield’s new Police Chief. He will be sworn in during the Board Workshop on Monday, October 10, 2022.

After his appointment, Mayor Argoudelis commented, “The Village is fortunate to have found such a worthy successor to Chief Konopek in Chief Miller.  He is a longtime resident, knows the community well, and has the experience and demeanor to lead our Police Department well into the future.”

Miller has 30 years of experience in law enforcement, most recently serving as Deputy Chief in the City of Wheaton. He began his career in Wheaton as a Patrol Officer and during his tenure, Mr. Miller moved up the ranks serving in a variety of roles including Patrol Officer, Sergeant, Lieutenant of Operations, Lieutenant of Investigations, Deputy Chief of Operations, and Deputy Chief of the Support Division.

He is a lifelong resident of Will County and holds a degree in Criminal Justice Management from Judson University. He also attended Northwestern University’s Center for Public Safety – School of Police Staff and Command.

Miller said he looks forward to beginning his work at the Village, “I am extremely motivated and excited to join the leadership team at the Village of Plainfield. I look forward to leading and working with the men and women of the Plainfield Police Department to continue providing quality police service to the citizens of our community. “
