Annual Awards to Spotlight Black Entrepreneurs showcasing over 800 businesses

     WDB Marketing is gearing up for its 7th Annual WDB L.E.G.A.C.Y. (Leadership, Education, Growth, Advocacy, Community, and Youth) Awards Weekend, scheduled for a three-day extravaganza from February 29th through March 2nd. The event promises a dynamic celebration of Black entrepreneurs, providing a platform for inspiration, information, showcases, and networking opportunities for more than 800 businesses. The weekend will culminate in a celebration honoring inspiring and established entrepreneurs and their profound impact on communities.

     The highly anticipated weekend is a hub for local mom-and-pop businesses, not-for-profit organizations, and small to larger emerging enterprises. Events and activations are strategically designed to foster the exchange of ideas, covering crucial aspects of businesses, from job creation and networking to leadership. Connecting Black entrepreneurs of all sizes, the weekend offers resources to help them grow their businesses, including access to financial institutions and corporate contracts. The event has directly circulated over $1.5 million among black-owned businesses.

     The extravaganza begins on Thursday, February 29th with a Private Meet and Greet

Hosted by WDB Marketing, the exclusive event brings together special guests, panelists, WDB Marketing L.E.G.A.C.Y. honorees, and businesses for a night of networking. On Friday, March 1st the L.E.G.A.C.Y. Power Conference will be held at the Greenwood Oasis 7621 S. Greenwood from 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM. The event will provide informational support in marketing, operations, financing, corporate procurement, and personal development. With an expected attendance of over 600 Black-owned businesses, the conference organizer’s goal is to help entrepreneurs scale and grow their businesses. Rapper and entrepreneur Jay “Jeezy” Jenkins will take the stage for a one-on-one exclusive interview. Beyond the microphone and the stage lights, Jeezy stands as a towering figure in business and entrepreneurship. 

     The final day, Saturday, March 2nd the WDB L.E.G.A.C.Y. Awards Gala will take place at The Old Post Office at 433 W. Van Buren St. Chicago, IL.  The gala connects 800 start-ups and seasoned business owners for networking and celebration. Highlights include a showcase of fifteen Black-owned restaurants and the presentation of The 2024 WDB L.E.G.A.C.Y. Awards to esteemed honorees, including Louis Carr, President of Media Sales at BET Networks, Betty Clawson (Dudley Beauty College), Dee Robinson (Robinson Hill, Inc.), and Freddie Taylor (Urban Intellectuals). And the anticipated Young Entrepreneur of the Year Ward.
