Shorewood Crossroads Festival

SHOREWOOD—Shorewood Crossroads Festival 2011 will offer plenty of fun, food, music and much more for both the young and the young-at-heart.

 

A variety of activities geared for the entire family will take place at the annual festival held Friday through Sunday Aug. 5 to 7, at Four Seasons Park, 25520 W. Seil Road, west of River Road.

The Shorewood Area Chamber of Commerce is again hosting the festival. Presenting sponsor of the fest is the Bank of Shorewood.

A carnival, parade, taste-tempting foods, kid’s activities, bags tournament, dunk tank and fireworks will again highlight this year’s fest.

The three day event also includes a 5K run, hot dog-eating contest, children’s races, beautiful baby contest, pie-eating contest, and the crowning of Miss Shorewood Crossroads and Miss Shorewood Crossroads Junior.

Windy City Carnival games and rides will operate from 4 to 11 p.m. Friday, noon to 11 p.m. Saturday and noon to 7 p.m. Sunday. Unlimited rides (with a $20 wristband) will be available from 4 to 8 .m. Friday and 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Entertainment begins Friday with the popular high energetic dance band DejaVu on stage 5:15 to 8:15 p.m. Libido Funk Circus, will play your favorite Disco hits as well as dance and rock songs, spanning from the 60’s through today, on the main stage 9 p.m. to midnight.

Saturday, live entertainment will lead off at 5:30 p.m. with the Friday At Five Band, playing your favorite classic rock tunes. Back by popular demand is ARRA, who will take center stage at 9:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. ARRA has been together for 16 plus years and counting, as one of the most popular and best drawing cover bands in Chicagoland.

Saturday’s events will end with a bang and blazing color in a fireworks display at 9 p.m. courtesy of the Village of Shorewood.

A highlight of the festival is the annual parade at noon Sunday, with over 50 entries. “Shorewood Goes Hollywood” is the theme of this year’s parade and festival. The fest’s entertainment Sunday afternoon will feature DJ music from 3 to 7 p.m.
