The Music Ministry of St. Dennis Church in Lockport will host their 13th Annual Housewalk from 12:00 noon to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, September 18, 2011. This annual event will feature five lovely homes in the historic town of Lockport. The homes this year range from a 1905 historic home to a modern, ranch-style house.
DESCRIPTION OF THIS YEAR’S HOMES
#1 – The Lanham Home
This ranch style, stucco and stone covered home was custom built in 2007 and is easily the most high-tech home in the neighborhood. At the entrance of the home is the Board Room. This room contains equipment for animation, video production and editing and is the control room for the large professional studio in the home’s basement. This contemporary home offers so much more to the visitor and is a must-see!
#2 – The McCarthy Home
This brick Tudor revival was originally built in 1931. Restored in 2007, the home retains its original layout with only cosmetic upgrades. The living room of the home retains its original wood floors and is filled with unique collectibles and lovely crystal. The home also features an inviting outdoor living area. The patio was custom constructed to provide a convenient setting for visits with neighbors. The focal point of the expansive backyard is the American Beech Tree whose canopy is estimated to extend 80 feet across the yard.
#3 – The Despaltro Home
This traditional two-story home was built 12 years ago. It contains an eclectic mix of traditional furniture with contemporary accents. Entrants to the home are greeted in a two-story raised foyer. The home has three bedrooms and a home gym upstairs, and living room, dining room, kitchen, family room, office and outdoor living area downstairs. All visitors will be inspired by the stand-out colors painted in the rooms of this lovely home!
#4 – The Trotta Home
This modern, brick, two-story home built in 1986 features rooms filled with personalized, handmade décor. The entryway displays various antiques as well as hand painted artwork. The dining room is filled with custom-made, handcrafted furniture including a corner hutch made from an old kitchen table and a china cabinet constructed to match. Each room has its own distinctive décor! The backyard contains a small fountain and a visually stunning Tamarisk tree.
#5 – The Hoffmeyer Home
This two-story historic home was built in 1905. It is decorated in a traditional style that complements the unique characteristics of the home and the modern improvements of the home have been beautifully blended with its historic value. The inviting backyard has a pool as well as a small cabana on the deck, perfect for entertaining. The yard is encircled with a variety of flowers and vegetable plants. The result is an overall modern, cozy ambiance.
BAKE SALE
Again this year, in tandem with the Housewalk, is the St. Dennis Bake Sale that will be held on both Saturday and Sunday in the Narthex, the side entryway to the Church. The Bake Sale will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17 and 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 18. The Bake Sale will feature all home-made baked goods. All proceeds will also benefit the St. Dennis Music Ministry.
HOW TO PURCHASE TICKETS
The Housewalk is open to adults and to children at least 12 years old. Proceeds from the event benefit the St. Dennis Music Ministry. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased from any member of the Music Ministry, by calling (815) 838-6255, or from the St. Dennis Parish Center (815) 838-2592.
