Yes, you've read it right! The Joliet Buccaneers Minor League Football Organization is looking for young men ages 18 years and up interested in playing organized competitive team football. Sandra Geib-Ingram, CEO/General Manager and Ken Hinkle, Head Coach of the Joliet Buccaneers Minor League Football Organization is lobbying local kids from Shorewood, Channahon, Bolingbrook, Plainfield, Romeoville and Joliet who are interested in playing competitive football again.
"This gives them the opportunity to still compete and play football at a high level," said Geib- Ingram. We're trying to help them do something constructive and positive with their lives, and keep them off the streets during the summer. This past November Joliet Jr. College cancelled their long running football program, which had given young men that graduated from local high schools, whose grades weren't that impressive the opportunity to correct their grades and move on to another 4 year institution. "Not any more, said Head Coach Ken Hinkle. Cancelling the program over at JJC hurt not only the local high schools, but some parts of the local economy. This really gives the Joliet Buccaneers the opportunity, which it needs to help these young men out.
This marks the ninth season of the Buccaneers Organization, and for the past nine years the organization has helped quite a number of local young men keep playing football. "Our main goal is to give these young men the opportunity to still play the game, which they love to play," said Head Coach Ken Hinkle. We don't care where you come from as long as you come, and work your butt off to make this team.
The team has been practicing indoors since Jan 9th and has recently moved out side due to the unseasonable type weather the Chicago area has been having over the last couple of months. Practices are Sundays 3pm to 6pm, Tuesday and Thursday 5:45pm to 8pm.
"Were excited about being outside early this year, as this has given us the jump on where we weren't last year," said Coach Hinkle. I think, with the skilled players and new players that we want to get, we'll be a better productive team for the 2012 season.
