More than 150 Joliet Grade School students (early childhood through eighth grade) will perform in the ninth annual Children for Peace musical celebration on
April 18 at the Rialto Square Theatre. The hour-long show, “Make a Difference”, will begin at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $3.00 each and available at the Rialto Box Office, 102 N. Chicago Street in Joliet.
This year’s show is directed by Carl Sandburg fifth grade teacher Amy Hopkins. James Shaw is the musical director. In addition, an art exhibit, featuring projects from students from all District 86 schools, will be on display at the Rialto beginning at 6 p.m.
Children for Peace is a Joliet Public Schools District 86 initiative that instills in children peaceful strategies to resolve issues and to recognize those who contribute and support peace in the Joliet community. Over 11,000 District 86 students engage in various projects throughout the school year to develop models of peaceful behavior, promote kindness, encourage positive self-esteem, and foster constructive student relations.
