Gompers Students Win Second Place in Math Competition

Gompers Junior High School students came in second place at a recent Joliet West High School Mu Alpha Theta Math Competition. Seventh and Eighth Grade Students from local junior high and middle schools participated in the competition that tested students in topics that included fractions, formulas, radicals, ratios, matrices, and mental math.
The Gompers students that participated included: Freddy Brady, Cesar Escutia, Gabriel Hernandez, Marycarmen Juarez, Carlos Martinez, Juan Martinez, Lorenzo Ortiz, Abraham Padilla, Joel Ruiz, Alex Samano, Jazmin Samano, Miguel Samano, Gwen Schmidt, Iliana Sepeda, and Diana Ventura. Gompers Junior High teachers Ashley Matsko and Jeremy Poch joined the students at the competition.
