Nearly 30 high school students in the Central City YMCA's Teen Achievers program had the experience of a lifetime earlier this month when they visited six Midwestern universities as part of the group's annual spring college tour. Over three days, the students and their Y chaperones visited a total of six colleges in Indiana and Kentucky.
This lucky group of high school students also had the distinct honor of meeting Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas while touring the University of Kentucky! Since the program launched in 2005 at the Greater Joliet Area YMCA, 96 percent of its graduates have advanced on to higher level education.
