Vinitaly 2012 US Tour

Vinitaly In The World will offer tasting seminars during its trade events in Chicago with wines from the Consorzio per la Tutela dei Vini Valpolicella DOC, the Consorzio di tutela Vini Montefalco- Sagrantino di Montefalco and a selection of indigenous varietals from the Italian peninsula.

This is the first time the Valpolicella consortium has participated in a tasting in the United States. The producers from Montefalco, instead, are at the end of a successful month-long promotion of wines from their area.

Among participating producers from Valpolicella, one will be able to taste wines from Bertani, Casa Vinicola Sartori, Cantina Valpolicella Negrar, Cantine Gerardo Cesari, Vigneti Villabella-Cantine Delibori, among others. Sagrantino producers include Arnaldo Caprai Adanti, Colpetrone ,Tenuta Castelbuono, Scacciadiavoli, Perticaia, and Antonelli.

The Valpolicella seminar will be led by Charlie Arturaola, noted wine communicator and winner of the 2012 International Wine and Spirits Competition Communicator of the Year while the Sagrantino Seminar will be led by Ian Wolff, Wine & Spirits Editor of La Cucina Italiana. The indigenous varietals seminar which will be held in Chicago, will be led by Tom Hyland, a noted wine educator, journalist and author of LearnItalianWines.com.

What better way to educate people than to have them taste wines from a specific area of a specific grape variety?” said Stevie Kim, General Coordinator of Vinitaly In The World and Senior Advisor to CEO Giovanni Mantovani

“Italy has the largest patrimony of grapes in the world and we want to showcase some portion of it every time we can. We're thrilled to have Valpolicella and Sagrantino at our tastings this year,” she added.

The Vinitaly In the World Tour is in its 15th year and the US stop is one of the countries on the tour.
