Lewis University, revolutionizes higher education with new campaign launch

Published on

President Dr. David Livingston unveiled Lewis University’s groundbreaking $50 million comprehensive campaign, titled “Students at the Center, for a Better World.”

“This comprehensive endeavor underscores the resilience of our Mission and strategic vision as we adapt to the evolving landscape of higher education,” remarked Dr. Livingston during the announcement.

The campaign will prioritize three main areas: capital expansion, endowment growth, and programs/scholarships. However, it extends beyond fundraising, emphasizing unique collaborations such as the recent merger with St. Augustine College. Since its announcement, the campaign has already amassed over $40 million towards its $50 million target.

Aligned with the university’s commitment to provide both liberal and professional education, Lewis University strives to serve a comprehensive range of students from diverse backgrounds and age groups. “To meet the diverse needs of our students and society, we must broaden our horizons beyond the approaches focused primarily on traditional aged undergraduates,” explained Raymond Kennelly, Chief Strategy Officer.

Lewis University’s $50 million comprehensive campaign tackles real-world challenges head-on. From equipping future healthcare professionals with state-of-the-art technology and advanced certifications to establishing crucial partnerships like United Airlines Aviate and Tuskegee NEXT to address shortages in pilots and maintenance technicians, Lewis University is pioneering innovative solutions to workforce gaps. Moreover, the university has introduced a new Success Coach Program to provide students with dedicated mentors supporting their holistic needs academically, emotionally, financially, and spiritually.

Lead Campaign Donor and Lewis University Board Member Ed Sanchez expressed his enthusiasm, stated, “Investing in Lewis University is investing in transforming individuals who will make a positive impact on the world.”

The recent merger with Chicago’s St. Augustine College further expands Lewis University’s reach to the burgeoning Hispanic population, offering bilingual education from pre-apprenticeship programs to doctorate degrees. With campuses in Romeoville, Oakbrook, Chicago, and Albuquerque, and a growing international student body, Lewis University is fostering global outreach.

“The early success of the campaign reflects the confidence donors, foundations, and grantors have in Lewis’s forward trajectory. We are immensely grateful for their support,” remarked Colleen Ahearn, Vice President of University Advancement.

To realize Lewis University’s vision of meeting students where they are, the institution cannot rely solely on tuition. Private funds, donations, and strategic partnerships through the “Students at the Center for a Better World” comprehensive campaign will bring this vision to fruition.
