Joliet Grade School District Names New Principals

The Joliet Grade School Board of School Inspectors appointed three new principals for the 2013-2014 school year to replace three retiring principals. Larry Tucker will be principal of T.E. Culbertson Elementary, Araceli Ordaz at Thomas Jefferson Elementary, and Lisa Marie Moreno will become principal at Sator Sanchez Elementary School.

Mr. Tucker has been with Joliet Public Schools District 86 since 2007, most recently as assistant principal at M.J. Cunningham Elementary School for the past two years. Tucker earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Illinois State University and a Master’s of Education Administration from Chapman University.

For the past two years, Mrs. Ordaz held the position of Director of English Language Learners at Wheaton Warrenville Community Unit School District 200. Prior to that, Mrs. Ordaz spent eight years in District 86. Ordaz has a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Business Management from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of St. Francis, and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Northeastern Illinois University.

Mrs. Moreno comes to District 86 from Chicago Public Schools where she served as principal of John D. Shoop Academy of Math, Science and Technology since 2007. Moreno has a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences from the University of Illinois in Chicago, a Master’s Degree in Linguistics from Northeastern Illinois University, a Certificate of Administration and Supervision from Lewis University, and is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Education Degree in Educational Organization and Leadership from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana.
