Heather McGuire became Crest Hill’s full-time city attorney last month and Mayor Ray Soliman is confident the city made the right move.

“In evaluating Heather McGuire’s work ethic, I believe she has brought a great deal of professionalism to our city,” Soliman said.

McGurie was previously employed by the firm of McKeown, Fitzgerald, Zollner, Buck, Hutheson & Ruttle Law Firm, which had been Crest Hill’s law firm for the past five years. The firm is in the process of dissolving, so after looking at all its options, the city council decided it would be best to hire McGuire full time since she had previously represented the city when she was with the firm, according to Soliman.

“She is competent and has represented our city well for the past two years,” the mayor said. “Ms. McGuire will be a tremendous asset to the city of Crest Hill.”

McGuire will be paid a salary of $75,000, plus benefits. For the past four years, Crest Hill has spent between $161,000 and $218,000 on legal fees, Soliman said.
