Visions in white make debutante debut a Joliet ball

Twelve Joliet-area women celebrated their "coming out" debuts Saturday night at the Fantasia Debutante Ball, sponsored by the Tealight Foundation and the Kappa Mu Omega Chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA) Sorority.
The event was held at the Holiday Inn at 411 S. Larkin Ave. in Joliet and featured the theme “One Enchanted Evening.”
All of the debutantes are high school juniors and seniors who completed a series of workshops designed to hone their social skills, self-confidence, morals and values, according to Ruth Griffin coordinator of the Ball and a member of the AKA Sorority.
Those who made their debut were:
TaLaya A. Adams, a Joliet West High School junior and daughter of Tanyan James; D’amecia L. Franklin, a Joliet West senior and daughter of Searcy L. Simmons; Khadriene R. Green, a Lockport Township High School senior and daughter of Janette Bishop and Jeff Green; Sarah B. Hale, a Plainfield East High School senior and daughter of Bryan and Sherri Hale; Khadejah D. Hurd, a Joliet Central High School junior and daughter of Kewa Kirkland; and Kyla N. McDaniel, a Joliet Central junior.
Also, Kaylah M Norris, a Minooka Community High School senior and daughter of Christine Norris; Tyashia K. Pierce, a Joliet Central senior and daughter of Betty Moore; Ashley L. Reynolds, a Joliet West senior and daughter of Daryl and Dana L. Reynolds; Anais L. Rodriguez, a Joliet West senior and daughter of Irlanda Rodriguez; Senia D. Towner, an Evergreen Park Community High School junior and daughter of Dennis and Dr. Rhonda Towner; and Megan L. Winfrey, a Joliet West senior and daughter of Edward and Michelle Winfrey.
