Warren-Sharpe Center awarded $15,000 Silver Cross grant

The Silver Cross Healthy Community Commission presented the Joliet center with money to help fund its Quality of Life programs.
The Warren-Sharpe Center is the recipient of a $15,000 grant from the Silver Cross Healthy Community Foundation to help cover the costs of Quality of Life programs, including its educational after-school classes.

The Silver Cross Healthy Community Commission awarded the Warren-Sharpe Community Center of Joliet with a $15,000 grant to help fund their Quality of Life programs.

The Silver Cross Healthy Community Commission’s grant will help the Warren-Sharpe Community Center continue to provide the residents with a variety of programs and services including, cooking and nutrition class for kids and their parents, food pantry, community garden and educational after-school programs.

“We are delighted to work together with Warren-Sharpe Community Center to help increase access to education and further success in our community,” said Margie Woods, Chair of the Silver Cross Healthy Community Commission.

“The Warren-Sharpe Community Center is grateful to the Silver Cross Healthy Community Commission for the grant,” said Kay Bolden, Executive Director of the Warren-Sharpe Community Center. “This grant allows area residents to improve their lives through the programs offered which enables them to eventually give back to the community.”

Warren-Sharpe Community Center is a nonprofit, community-based organization that offers social service programs and assistance to low-income, at-risk families on the south side of Joliet.
