Most area schools will be closed again today due to extreme cold

With freezing temperatures expected to continue at least until noon, most schools throughout the region will again be closed today.
Most area schools will be closed again Tuesday as a result of the dangerously cold weather.

With freezing temperatures expected to continue at least until noon, most schools throughout the region will again be closed today. Catholic schools in Will County were closed Monday and will be closed again today.

Here’s a list of area public school districts that were confirmed to be closed today:

  • Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202
  • Joliet Township High School District 204
  • Laraway Community Consolidated School District 70C
  • Joliet Public Schools District 86
  • Valley View School District 365U Schools
  • Lockport Township High School District 205
  • New Lenox School District 122
  • Shorewood School District
  • Will County School District 92
  • Homer Community Consolidated School District 33C
  • Troy Community Consolidated School District 30-C
  • Richland School District 88A
  • Union School District 81
  • Fairmont School District 89
  • District 91 School District (Kelvin and Milne Grove Schools)

Also, all Joliet Junior College campuses and extension centers and Lewis University campuses will be closed today due to the weather.
