Kappa Mu Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. (AKA) recently selected Soror Jennifer Johnson to represent the chapter as the 2014 Woman-of-the-Year. Soror Jennifer was initiated into Delta Beta Chapter (S.I.U.-C) in 1971 and later became a Charter member of Kappa Mu Omega Chapter in 1975. Soror Jennifer has been a diligent worker with uninterrupted service to this Community Service Oriented Organization for 29 years. Through the years she has served as: President, Vice President, Corresponding Secretary, Assistant Treasurer and is currently serving as Graduate Advisor to Lambda Psi Chapter at Lewis University. She has served on numerous committees and has often served as Chairperson. After graduation from Southern Illinois University with a degree in Special Education, Soror Jennifer was employed by the Joliet School District #86 where she served as: science teacher, academic advisor, assistant principal and principal. In addition to her activities within the sorority Soror Jennifer is an active member of Sacred heart Parish where she serves as Eucharistic Minister and has been the Revival Chairperson since its inception in the early 1980’s. She is active on many Ad Hoc Committees at Sacred Heart Church. She has been appointed to several committees by the Bishop of the Diocese of Joliet. Her actions demonstrate that she clearly understands and follows the beliefs of her faith. In every capacity of her life, Soror Jennifer Johnson possesses the attributes upon which Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. was founded. She truly lives out daily its motto, “Service to All Mankind.” The members of Kappa Mu Omega Chapter have recognized Soror Jennifer Johnson as their 2014 Soror-of-the-Year.
