The village of Romeoville plans to install QR codes along its ComEd walking/bike trails that will allow people with smartphones to access fitness videos that will change monthly.

The installation is to be done in the early fall, according to a news release from the village. Each posted code will have a different exercise that the user can perform while using the trail.

The village is the first in Illinois to use the technology, the release said.

"We strive to improve and expand our recreational opportunities. By combining technology and fitness, we are able to be innovative and provide this amenity on our trail system," said Director of Parks & Recreation Kelly Rajzer.
