Celebrations set for Joliet West and Joliet Central 50 Year Anniversary
5/20/2014, 4:42 p.m.
Joliet Central and Joliet West High School will hold special events to celebrate the 50th anniversary of each campus. The anniversary celebrations will feature food, drinks and live music.
“2014 marks the year that both campuses will celebrate 50 years of educational excellence,” said JTHS Alumni Relations Director Lynne Lichtenauer. “We invite all alumni since the 1964-1965 school year, as well as family, friends, former faculty, staff members, and alumni of JTHS and Joliet East. Central and West alumni hold so much pride for their alma mater. I am sure this will be an unforgettable event that no one would want to miss.”
The celebrations are for those 21 and older and feature live performances by the band “Generation,” a 50/50 raffle, silent auction items, and a cash bar. Food will also be available for purchase. Guests of the Joliet West celebration will enjoy a bonfire during the event, and a fireworks display will cap off the Joliet Central event. Each ticket purchase includes admittance to the celebration, a commemorative t-shirt and a pass to the homecoming game on Sept. 6 for Joliet West or on Sept. 27 for Joliet Central.
Tickets go on sale beginning June 1 for $25 if purchased prior to July 31 and $30 if purchased after this date. Tickets can also be purchased at the door for $35.
The Joliet West celebration will begin at 5 p.m. on Sept. 6 at Siegel’s Cottonwood Farms, located at 17250 Weber Road in Crest Hill, and the Joliet Central celebration starts at 5 p.m. on Sept. 27 at the Joliet Slammers ballpark, Silver Cross Field in downtown Joliet.
Those who purchase a ticket prior to the event can pick-up their commemorative t-shirt at the Joliet Township Administrative Center, located at 300 Caterpillar Drive in Joliet, from 7:15 a.m.–3:45 p.m. during the week of Sept. 1–Sept. 5. T-shirts can also be picked up at the homecoming games or at each 50th celebration event.
Tickets can be ordered online on the JTHS District 204 website at www.jths.org
