For 40 years, the Zonta Club of Joliet has been supporting women on a local and international level through fundraising and community outreach. This year’s annual luncheon fundraiser, “Celebrating Zonta around the World,” was recently held at the Patrick Haley Mansion in Joliet and raised significant funding to assist charitable organizations and international relief efforts.
Zonta also honors women on a local level through the Woman of Distinction award, which is given annually at the luncheon fundraiser. This year, Joliet Junior College Nursing Professor Lynn Noell received the award for her role in improving health care in underdeveloped areas around the world.
The presentation of the Woman of Distinction award was only one aspect of the luncheon’s success.
“This year’s Zonta fundraising brunch was a wonderful event. The sun was out, and the Patrick Haley Mansion practically glowed while we enjoyed a lovely meal,” said President Mardi Wunderlich. “Overall the club raised over $13,000 to help women in need.”
