The Romeoville Village Board has signed off on the final development plan, with construction expected to begin early next year.

Construction will begin in early 2015 on a new McDonald's at the northeast corner of Illinois 53 and Greenwood Avenue, now that the village of Romeoville has signed off on the final development plans for the project.

The 4,471-square-foot restaurant with a dual drive-through lane design will be built on the 1.23-acre site that had once been the Bell Fuels gas station.

The village board reviewed and approved the plan at its meeting last week.

"It's a prime location to draw business from out-of-town visitors as well as local residents," said Mayor John Noak.

The proposed site is located along the historic Route 66 corridor, adjacent to the village's Uptown Square and the Romeoville Athletic Center. Ornamental parking lot lighting, enhanced landscaping, upgraded building architecture and attractive signage meet the village's design requirements for this site.
