Without question one of the greatest wine growing regions of the world is Bordeaux, France. The terroir is recognized as such for the last millennia. There cannot be a conversation about great wines without mentioning the first growths of the Medoc or grand crus of Saint-Emilion or the first groeths of Pomerol. For most wine lovers, the prices of these liquid gems are beyond reach. Fortunately, there is an abundance of high-quality wines that are priced within the realm of extraordinary value that are of high quality and great flavor. A recent tasting of wines of Bordeaux and Bordeaux Superieur AOC brought forth some unique wine priced well below $20. Among the most intriguing was the 2012 Chateau Les Rouilleres Bordeaux Rouge, priced at a mere $14 (Some online sites have it at $11.99!). This is an exceptional Bordeaux blend of Merlot, Cabernet and Cabernet Franc that truly delivers a delicate blend of ripe red fruit and creamy vanilla spice from oak aging that makes it the perfect accompaniment for an elegant meal of steak, lamb or turkey, pheasant or a roasted rosemary chicken. With fall here, this might be the perfect wine to stock in the cellar for the upcoming Holiday meals. At the going price, a case or two would not be out of the question and probably one of the best buys you'll make all season. A' Votre Santé!
