Will County Executive Larry Walsh underwent successful prostate cancer surgery Thursday, his chief of staff Nick Palmer said.

“The county executive is in good spirits and happy the surgery went well.” Palmer said.

Walsh announced last week that he had been diagnosed with cancer, but that his prognosis for recovery was good.

No details were released on where he had surgery, what stage cancer he had or how long he would need to recover.
