Dist. 202 announces new assistant principals, administrators

District 202 provided this news release:

Nine District 202 schools will have new assistant principals and school-level administrators for the 2015-16 school year:

  • Phil Pakowski will serve as the new Assistant Principal for Curriculum and Instruction. He replaces Len Egan. Pakowski started his education career in 2002 as a science teacher at PSHS.

  • Kristi Boe will be the new Assistant Principal for Student Services. She replaces Dr. Christine Warren. She started her education career 2003 as a social studies teacher at District 202. She has also worked the last two years as a guidance counselor at PSHS.

  • Ken Bublitz is the new Athletic Director. He replaces Bob Yanello, who was approved earlier this summer as the school's new principal. Bublitz started his education career in 1985 as a teacher in the Streator, Illinois school district. He came to District 202 in 2004 as a social studies teacher at PSHS.

  • At Plainfield North High School, Arthur Stafford replaces Tracy Thurwanger as assistant principal for student services. Stafford started his education career in 2003 as a social studies teacher at PSHS. He moved to PNHS in 2007 and taught two more years before being named Division Chair in 2009.

  • Freedom Elementary School art teacher Karl Lustrup will serve as the new assistant principal at Ridge Elementary School, replacing Timothy Wyller. He started his education career in 2002 as an art teacher at Eagle Pointe Elementary School. He has taught art at Freedom since 2007.

  • Plainfield Academy special education teacher Karyn Holstead is the new assistant principal at Plainfield Academy. She replaces Amber Nickel. Holstead started her education career in 1998 as a special education teacher at Krejci Academy in Naperville and came to District 202 in 2000 as a special education teacher at Lakewood Falls Elementary School.

  • Amber Nickel replaces Matthew Swies as assistant principal at John F. Kennedy. Nickel was the assistant principal at Plainfield Academy the last two years. She started her education career in 2004 as a special education teacher in the Troy School District in Shorewood, Illinois.

  • Julia Bettis is the new assistant principal at the Bonnie McBeth Learning Center, taking over for Erica Schmidt. Bettis started her education career in 1982 as an elementary teacher at Central Christian Schools in Kansas. Bettis first worked for District 202 as a special education teacher for one year in 2004 at Ridge Elementary, then taught at several other districts before returning this year.

  • Kirsten Kilday is the new assistant principal at Walker's Grove Elementary, replacing Robert Battey. She started her education career in 1999 as a fifth grade teacher at Reed School in Lockport. She came to District 202 in 2000 as a fourth and fifth grade teacher at Meadow View Elementary.

  • Cortnye Rossi will go from Ira Jones to Aux Sable. She had been the assistant principal at Ira Jones since 2012. Rossi started her education career in 2000 as an art teacher at (then) Plainfield High School.

  • Danielle Cournaya will move from Aux Sable to Ira Jones. Cournaya had been the assistant principal at Aux Sable since 2012. She started her education career in 2004 as a math teacher in the St. Charles, Illinois school district.
