Shorewood kicked off the holiday season with its annual tree lighting ceremony and a visit from Old St. Nick on ...

Riley Gorak and Tiarra Thompson were getting their requests to Old St. Nick in early this year.

The Walnut Trails students and BFF’s were meeting the jolly old elf at “Sunday with Santa”, the official kickoff to the Village of Shorewood’s holiday season.

The event included the debut of this year’s festival of trees which includes Christmas tree displays decorated by various local businesses on display at the village hall. The village also held a tree lighting ceremony after the sun set complete with Santa helping out.

Riley’s mom, Diana Gorak, said that she brings her daughter out every year for the event.

Both girls were eager to bend the ear of Santa, their wish lists this year including roller skates and Shopkins toys.

Sunday with Santa is a tradition that has been around in Shorewood for at least 20 years said village employee Toni Dulny.
