Joliet District 86 Announces Spelling Contest Winners

After 24 rounds, three fifth grade students earned top honors at the District 86 Elementary School Spelling Bee Contest.

After 24 rounds, three fifth grade students earned top honors at the District 86 Elementary School Spelling Bee Contest. Board of School Inspectors Deborah Ziech, Christine Kim, and Tony Contos congratulate (from left to right) Emily Del Rio (Eisenhower Academy), Victor Munoz (Sator Sanchez Elementary), and Verianna Moulton (Forest Park IE School) for winning 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophies at the District-wide Spelling Bee Contest. The individual school winners also included: Kaitlyn Mezger, T.E. Culbertson Elementary; Yazmin Ochoa, M.J. Cunningham Elementary; Joshua Kenniel, Farragut Elementary; Katherine Colome, Thomas Jefferson Elementary; Isaiah Junior, Edna Keith Elementary; Maylin Padilla, A.O. Marshall Elementary; Hugo Zamudio, Pershing Elementary; Ariyana Bradley, Carl Sandburg Elementary; Brandon Jones, Isaac Singleton Elementary; Jose Jimenez, Taft Elementary; Aidan Renteria, Lynne Thigpen Elementary; Sean Paige, Woodland Elementary; Danial Hamidi, Dirksen Junior High; Angel Batiz, Gompers Junior High; Monica Cherrington, Hufford Junior High; and Jherin Stamps, Washington Junior High. The junior high winners will compete in the Will County Spelling Contest in the spring.
