Fair to feature animals for adoption, pet care info

A pet fair to provide information for pet owners and to find homes for pets who need owners will be held July 19 at Hammel Woods in Shorewood.

State Senator Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant (D-Shorewood) and Representative Natalie Manley (D-Joliet) will be holding a pet fair this month.

The event will take place on Sunday, July 19, at Hammel Woods, Crumby Recreation Area (Black Road, Shorewood, 60404) from 9:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

“Pets are an important part of our families,” Bertino-Tarrant said. “This pet fair will be a good resource for all animal lovers in our community.”

Vendors at the pet fair include Cancer Bites Canine Cancer Fund, CARE Animal Emergency Services, Caton Crossing Animal Hospital, For Trails Only, Go Dog Go, Joliet Township Animal Control, Pampered Pups Grooming and Natural Foods, Perfect Pooch and the Will County Humane Society.

Animals will be available for adoptions. Additionally, items can be donated to benefit the Will County Humane Society. Acceptable items include Purina Dog & Cat Food (No Red Dye), KMR (Kitten Feeding Formula), Esbilac (Puppy Feeding Formula) and cat litter.

"Animals are a significant and meaningful part of people's lives," Manley said. "This expo will not only have resources for pet owners, but can also provide homes for those animals that need families."
