Ohio Street closed through Friday

The Canadian National (CN) Railway Company will be reconstructing the Ohio Street railroad crossing (located between Scott and State Streets), beginning June 29, 2015, through July 3, 2015. The road will be completely closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic for the duration of the work. A detour route utilizing Scott Street (Route 53), Jackson Street, and State Street will be posted. Drivers are advised to exercise caution and seek alternate routes when traveling in the area.

Jackson Street Bridge closed until Saturday

The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) will be closing the Jackson Street moveable bridge over the Des Plaines River from Wednesday, July 1, 2015, through Friday, July 3, 2015, to perform maintenance work. The bridge is expected to reopen on Saturday, July 4, 2015, at 8 a.m.

A detour will be posted utilizing Broadway Street, Ruby Street, and Chicago Street for eastbound traffic, and Scott Street, Ruby Street, and Broadway Street for west bound traffic. Drivers are advised to exercise caution and seek alternate routes when traveling in the area.

Northbound Center Street lane closures

Temporary lane closures on northbound Center Street over Interstate 80 will being Monday, July 6, the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Repair work is expected to be finished by Oct. 9.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
