District 202 provided this news release:
Charles Reed Elementary School Assistant Principal Tracey Markowski will lead River View Elementary School next year.
The District 202 Board of Education approved the move at its regular meeting on May 11, 2015.
She will replace current River View Principal Joe Simpkins, who is accepting a superintendent's position with the River Grove school district in River Grove, Illinois.
Markowski has served District 202 in her current role for two years. She was assistant principal at Wesmere Elementary from 2011-13.
She began her education career in 1989 as a teaching assistant at McCord Elementary School in Burbank, Ill., and then two more years as a permanent 2nd grade substitute teacher.
In 1993 Markowski taught third grade and served as assistant principal at Harry E. Fry Elementary School, also in Burbank.
She came to District 202 in 2000 as an elementary teacher at Meadow View Elementary. She moved to Freedom Elementary in 2007 where she taught fourth grade.
Superintendent of Schools Dr. Lane Abrell pointed out that Markowski has the rare distinction of having taught every elementary grade level.
"Mrs. Markowski has a wide range of experience as both a classroom teacher and administrator that will serve her well leading River View," said Mark Heiss, director for elementary administration and personnel.
"It is an honor for me to become the new principal of River View Elementary School," Markowsi said.
"I look forward to working closely with students, staff and families and to continue to embrace the fine traditions of River View," she said.
