U.S. 30 between Illinois 59 and Renwick Road will reopen to traffic Friday after being closed for several months for widening work and improvements.

The Illinois Department of Transportation provided this information:

The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) announced Wednesday that U.S. 30 (Lincoln Highway) between Renwick Road and Illinois 59, in Plainfield, will reopen to traffic, weather permitting, on Friday, Nov. 20.

This section was closed and detoured as part of the ongoing reconstruction and widening of U.S. 30. The project involves several stages of construction on a two mile stretch of U.S. 30 between Interstate 55 and Illinois 59.

In early December, work will begin on the section of U.S. 30 between I-55 and Renwick Road for the next stage of the project. No lanes will be closed and access to all businesses will remain open. Traffic lanes will be narrowed and flaggers will be present, when necessary.

The overall improvements are scheduled for completion in summer 2017.

Motorists should continue to expect delays and allow extra time while driving through the construction area.
