Honorary street naming for Bishop J.E. Moore

The Joliet City Council honored Bishop J.E. Moore, who's celebrating 50 years as pastor of Christ Temple Church in Joliet, by renaming a portion of Richards Street for him.

A portion of Richards Street was renamed this week for Bishop J.E. Moore, pastor of Joliet’s Christ Temple Church of the Apostolic Faith for the last 50 years.

The honor was approved unanimously by the Joliet City Council, and a sign presented to Moore by Councilman Terry Morris and Mayor Bob O’Dekirk, who called the minister a “rock in this community.”

Moore said he was pleased by the honor, and joked that liked “seeing his name up in lights.”

“The Bible teaches us that we should seek the peace of the city, and that’s what we’ve been trying to do for 50 years,” he said.

Christ Temple Church is located at 212 Richards St. Moore celebrated his Golden Jubilee during a week-long celebration Sept. 14 to 20 at the church.
