The White Oak Library District is hosting its 2nd Annual Comic Convention – Comicopolis -- in partnership with Amazing Fantasy Books and Comics and the City of Lockport’s Summer Arts Series on Saturday, August 6, 2016, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm at its Lockport Branch Library located at 121 E. 8th Street in downtown Lockport. Admission is free with activities for all ages. During the event, the Library will remain open for regular library-goers all day.

There will be 30 tables of vendors and exhibitors showing and selling their art, comics, figures, and prints whose appearances were coordinated by Amazing Fantasy’s Joe Gentile. We are very pleased to have so many talented artists, colorists, and graphic novel writers. They include Cory Hamscher, Dave Bryant, Dave Dorman, Ed Smith, Fuzzy Fish, Hooked on Books, International School of Comics, Jason Lillard, Jewell Walton, Jr., Joe Koziarski, Joe Ryan, Justin Castaneda, Katie Ryan, Lauren Burke, Len Strazewski, Micah Lee Mowbray, Patrick Trahey, Patrick Williams, ProSe Productions, Rafael Nieves, Scott Larson, Stephanie Stanga, Thomas Gianni, Tom Bacon, and Wesley Sun.

Many activities are planned throughout the day. The fun includes:

Swag Bags for the first 500 attendees

Door Prizes every 30 minutes

Grand Prize Drawing for gift baskets (winners need not be present)

Photo Booth photos from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm with print photos available for purchase

Photo Opportunities with cosplayers all day

Pod Racing for Kids all day

Kids Crafts from 10:00 to 11:00 am

Jedi Academy from 11:15 to noon

Zombie Makeover by Zombie Army Productions/HellsGate Haunted House @ 12:15 pm

Cartooning With Ed Smith/TAGOL @ 1:15 pm

Tips for Sewing and Creating Cosplay Costumes @ 2:15 pm

Costume Contest with $50.00 gift card prizes for best adult, teen, and child’s costume at 3:15 pm

Costume Consultation all day by Thimbles

Food options include the Taco Giselle Food Truck and hotdogs grilled by the Crest Hill Lion Club – both in front of the Library all day.

Representatives from the City’s Summer Arts Series including Wendy Streit, Mayor Steve Streit, and local artist Katie Blanchard will be present to distribute literature about the City-wide Collector Card Scavenger Hunt and the upcoming Summer Arts Series Steampunk Weekend on September 24th-25th. And, for Collector Card fans, the Chrono Keeper Compound card will be available only during Comicopolis!
