Update: Body found in burned car in Joliet Township identified

Will County Sheriffs on Thursday found the burned remains of a body after being called to the area of Patterson Rd. and Brandon Rd. in unincorporated Joliet Township.
Officers were called to the scene to investigate a car fire after East Joliet Fire Department personnel extinguished the fire and discovered a body in the trunk of the vehicle.
The body was burnt beyond recognition and at this point it is not known if the victim is male or female. The vehicle was a rented Dodge Charger.
An autopsy has been scheduled for Thursday.
The sheriff’s office considers the incident an ongoing investigation and anyone who may have seen or heard something in that area around midnight are asked to contact the Will County Sheriff’s Office Investigation Division at 816-727-8574.
3:00pm: The Will County Sheriff's Office has been notified from Patrick O'Neil, Will County Coroner, that the cause of death regarding this morning's discovery of a burned body is being ruled as a single gunshot wound to the head. The victim has been identified as a male subject, however his identity remains unknown at this time. The Coroner is using dental records to positively identify the individual.
This morning, at about midnight, the Sheriff's Office responded to the area of Patterson Road and Brandon Road in Joliet Township regarding a burning vehicle. East Joliet Fire responded and extinguished the fully engulfed 2016 Dodge Charger. Fire personnel notified deputies at the scene that they discovered a body in the trunk that was burned beyond recognition.
This incident is being ruled as an active homicide investigation. Sheriff's Office detectives are asking the public if they may have seen or heard anything in this area to please contact the Sheriff's Investigation Division at: 815-727-8574.
The Will County Coroners Office has positivily identified the body that was discovered in the burning vehicle in unicorporated Joliet Township around midnight on July 14, 2016. The body has been identified through dental records as Joseph M Jaquez, 31 of Claim Street, Aurora, IL. and the family has been notified.
The Will County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate this as a homicide and is following up on all possible leads.
