Students get a glimpse at Student Interest Day

Hermansen Elementary School students went home from school recently with a new perspective after attending Student Interest Day activities.
Nearly two dozen community members, parents and some school personnel volunteered their time to provide 3rd through 5th graders with unique (and in many cases hands-on) information about their careers and/or hobbies.
"It was our goal for students to exit these experiences with new insight
into how the skills they are learning today will benefit them in the future," said Hermansen Library Media Center Director Matt Korwin, who organized the event.
Students learned about saving money, eating well, how to record a song, how to exercise and much more.
"We are excited by the possibility that the presentations will help students discover interests they did not know about." Korwin said.
Hermansen hopes to make Student Interest Day an annual event.
