6:30 to 8 p.m., Feb. 2 The Great Read Kickoff: Costume and Trivia Contests

We are hosting a costume contest and a trivia contest with magical prizes for the winners to kick off The Great Read. It's being held at the Joliet Public Library Black Road Branch. To compete in the Trivia Contest, you must pre-register your team of 2 to 5 people at www.greatread.org. Open to all ages. Everyone is welcome to attend. $25 gift cards to each member of the winning trivia team.

6:30 to 7:30 p.m., Feb. 9 The Great Escape: Plan a Cruise like a Pro

Winter is a great time to plan a cruise! Cruise veteran Sandi Pointon will provide advice on how to choose a cruise line and itinerary and provide tips on how to save money on cruise fare, shore excursions and more. Registration is required.

1 to 2 p.m., Feb. 11 New Year, New You: I Can’t Be a Runner…Or Can I?

Go from the couch to the 5k finish line. Running Times contributing writer Danny Smith shows you how. Informative and inspirational, Smith presents a detailed and proven 10-week program that blends walking and running.

1 to 2 p.m., Feb. 15 Essential Oils 101

Make a body scrub and learn all about essential oils and their health benefits.

12:15 to 1:15 p.m., Feb. 21 Adult Storytime

Come sit back enjoy a cup of coffee and listen to a short tale in a different genre each month. Relax and work on an adult coloring art page.

11 a.m. to 12 p.m., Feb. 25 Harry Potter Yoga

Join us for a fun, magical hour of Harry Potter-inspired yoga. We will focus on improving concentration, balance, and flexibility as we cast spells and perform yoga poses from the Harry Potter world. This program is for ages 12 and up. A waiver must be signed upon arrival. Wands will be available, or feel free to bring your own. Please dress in comfortable clothes and bring a water bottle. Accio your yoga mat or a towel and we'll see you on the 25th!

6 to 8 p.m., Feb. 28

The Great Read: Hogwarts and Art Contest Awards

The conclusion of The Great Read will be celebrated at the Fountaindale Public Library. The Art Contest winners will be announced along with the art of all of the semi-finalists on display. Then, everyone will be treated to a special Harry Potter-themed magic show! This fast-paced show features comedy magic and lots of audience participation. Dress in your favorite wizard or witch outfit, and be prepared to cast your own spells during this family-friendly show. Registration is not required. Refreshments and book give-aways.

Recycled Book Heart Garland

Make a sweet valentine heart garland out of recycled books. Registration is required.
