Joliet announces summer job training program

The job-training program will run the summer in partnership with Redeemed Connection Ministries.

A new summer program will train young adults for new job opportunities in the City of Joliet.

Participants will have an opportunity to complete a job preparation program and will receive a certificate in job preparation skills and lawn care services.

The program is a joint partnership with Redeemed Connection Ministries, 205 E. Clinton St., which will work with other area non-profit organizations and local lawn care businesses.

Applicants will be assigned to a designated team and location to begin lawn-care training along with hands-on operation of equipment and their safe and proper use.

Joliet Mayor Bob O’Dekirk praised the program after having seen its impact last year.

“We’re looking forward to continuing its success this summer,” he said.

“Teaching young people skills that they can use for employment and keeping them off of the streets is a positive step, not only for the people who are employed, but for the community as a whole.”
