On Saturday, May 13, the City of Joliet is honoring those who protect and serve the community with a parade highlighting the men and women who serve in law enforcement.
‘Salute to the blue’ is a free event that will kick off with a parade down Chicago Street in downtown Joliet at 1 p.m.
“The Joliet Police Department does so much for our city," said Richard Fredrickson of the City Center Partnership.
"We wanted to find a way to thank them and all law enforcement officers throughout the area,” he said.
Law enforcement agencies from Joliet, Channahon, Romeoville, Rockdale, Crest Hill, Wilmington, Will County, and Kendall County will be attending.
Afterward, residents are invited to a free concert at the Slammers Stadium with the Neverly Brothers band playing songs ranging from Elvis to the Beatles. For the kids, their will be a touch-a-truck event.
Food and drinks will be available for purchase at the stadium on the day of the event.
It is sponsored by the Joliet Police Department, the City of Joliet, D’Arcy Motors and the Joliet City Center Partnership.
The parade kicks off a spring and summer calendar full of events in Joliet’s downtown organized by Joliet City Center Partnership as a way to showcase and promote downtown businesses.
