Valley View middle school track athletes headed to state finals

Thirteen individuals and eight relay teams from Valley View School

District 365U qualified for the IESA Class AA track state finals with

strong performances at sectionals over the weekend.

Humphrey Middle School

*8th grade boys: 4x100m Relay (Jaquan Howard, Chris Ceballos, Jaden Elmore,

Christian Lopez and Chavelle Butler); Ceballos, 100 meters and long jump

*7TH grade boys: Howard, 100 meters, long jump and shot put

*8th grade girls: 4x100m Relay (Nia Brown, Capricia Mays, Emma Jones, Michelle

Steffenhagen, and Brooklyn Wilson)

*7th grade Girls: Aaliyah Hill, shot put

Brooks Middle School

*8th grade boys: 4x200 (Julian Villarreal, Devin Pringle, Ike Frazier, Isaiah Obi

Obasi, Ethan briones); Villarreal, 100 and 200 meter dashes

*7th grade boys: Frazier, long jump

*8th grade girls: 4x100 (Marissa Barauskas, Jesse Tipe, Hailee Anderson, Amari

Turner, Morgan Mercier)

*7th grade girls: 4x100 relay (Jennifer Ledezma, Brooke Cephas, Elizabeth Sarpong,

Yohn Jimenez, Lauren Mitchell); Ledezma, long jump; Sarpong, 100 meter dash

Martinez Middle School

*8th grade boys: 4x100 relay (Joe Adum, Justin Lynch, Jacquille Brown, Calvin Glass and Jaden Battle; Adum and Brown, long jump; Lynch, 100 meter dash; Brown, 200 meter dash

Jane Addams Middle School

*8th grade boys: Justin Walters, 400 meters

*7th grade boys: 4x200 relay (Jalen Johnson, Alec Robinson, Jaden Matlock, Jacob Bramlett, Mekhi Cooper); and 4x400 relay (Julien Flores, Matlock, Nick Garcia, Conner Wasick, Brett Wasick)

*8th grade girls: Breann Moore, shot put; Yaneli Izaguirre, 100 meter hurdles

*7th grade girls: Kaylee Pannek, 800 meters

In the team competition at sectionals, Brooks and Jane Addams tied for 4th place in the 7th grade girls division and Addams was 4th at the 8th grade girls level. Martinez was runnerup in 8th grade boys and Humphrey was 3rd

in 7th grade boys.
