11/2/2017, 10:09 a.m.
Lemont Artists Guild will host a water color demonstration during its November 17 meeting beginning at 7 p.m. at the Homer Township Public Library, 14320 W 151st St, Homer Glen.
Gordon France will demonstrate his painting style and technique. A graduate of the Art Institute of Chicago he spent 40 years in the advertising business and began painting full time in 2000.
France’s favorite subjects are sports, cityscapes and urban life.
“My interest is in painting an activity that gets the viewer involved both visually and emotionally,” said France.
“I prefer to suggest passages rather than paint details and let the viewer’s eye do the work.”
He has won many awards and his paintings hang in private and corporate collections in Italy, the UK, Canada and throughout the U.S. and was awarded 3rd place in American Artist magazines 70th Anniversary watercolor competition for his painting "Wrigley Rainout" and was a featured painter on the cover and article in Watercolor magazine.
Two of his paintings chronicling American city life were on a two year exhibit at the U.S. embassy in Sarajevo as part of the State Department's Art in Embassies Program. His website is: www.gordonfrance.net.
The event is free to the public and a donation for the local food pantry is appreciated. Parking is free and refreshments will also be served.
