Joliet Township Supervisor Dan Vera says the township has the financial means to maintain and enhance Billie Limacher Bicentennial Park that the city of Joliet lacks.

Billie Limacher Bicentennial Park and Theatre is hosting the first Emerging Playwrights Festival for students in 8th grade through 12th grade in November.

Emerging Playwrights Festival will spotlight the area’s extremely talented and creative teenagers. There is no fee to enter. Simply fill out the registration form and attach your short original script (10 to 15 pages long) for review. If selected, you will produce your play for our stage. The plays will be presented on January 20, 2018. It will be your vision – and you may recruit your friends to star in it. One member of our community will be your mentor to help with staging and production. Everything else is up to you.

Submission deadline is November 21, 2017. We only want your original work, and it is open to all students in the area. Are you the next David Mamet or Christopher Durang, Tracey Letts or Lynn Nottage? Start somewhere. Start here.
