Joliet High School athletes continued to rack up wins this week. Check out all of the winners.

Joliet West

• Michael Smith, a Joliet West senior and varsity basketball player, was selected as the D’Arcy Motors Athlete of the Week! Click here to check out his story.

Varsity boys’ basketball defeated Plainfield South 73-62 on February 22. On February 26, the Joliet West Boys basketball defeated Neuqua Valley, 65-59; Michael Smith with 27 points.

Joliet West Track & Field Team

• On February 24, the Joliet West Track & Field team were the champions of the Tiger Invite for the third year in a row. Senior Captains Colt Dolk & TJ Neal led the team. Dolak took second in the vault (12 feet) & first place in the 4x200 relay. Neal took second in Long Jump (20’2) & second place in Triple Jump (42’4). This week’s Varsity Athlete of the Meet is senior Omari Ferguson, taking home three gold medals and scoring 30pts for the team with a first place in the 55m (6.76), first place in the 200m (23.85), and anchoring that winning 4x200 relay.

Joliet Central

The Joliet Central Varsity Boys Basketball Team clinched the outright SPC title Tuesday night, and defeated Minooka in a rescheduled game with a 47-41 victory for the Steelmen on Thursday, February 22.

Joliet West Track & Field Team

Next, the Steelmen defeated Yorkville on February 27th to advance to the regional championship on Friday, March 2nd at 7 pm at Oswego East.

Congratulations to team members Cameron Blackmon, Don Joachim and Ryan Saunders on earning all-conference honors in the Southwest Prairie Conference in Boys Basketball. The SPC Head Varsity Coaches also voted Cameron Blackmon as the league’s MVP.

The Steelmen were also ranked in Michael O’Brien’s Chicago-area Super 25 basketball teams.
