The New Hue is hosting a Masquerade Ball on Saturday March 24 at Juliet’s in downtown Joliet. Founded in September 2016 by Joliet West alum Chris Braggs, The New Hue is a community program committed to changing the perception of men of color in Joliet.

The New Hue Scholarship program will award one $500 scholarship to a young man of color who is graduating from Joliet Township High Schools and is pursuing a Digital and Media Arts program in college. The scholarship will be awarded in May 2018, and is being managed by United In Excellence (UIE) and the Joliet Township High Schools Foundation. “We are looking forward to another successful event,” added Braggs, “and we are excited to partner with United In Excellence and the JTHS Foundation to direct proceeds to a new scholarship program at JTHS.”

The event is 6:30 pm at Juliet’s restaurant 205 N Chicago Street, will feature music, dancing, and a photo booth and Hors d’oeuvres. Proceeds from the event will support The New Hue’s scholarship program. Tickets are $40 and can be purchased through Eventbrite. Attire is formal, black-tie. Masquerade masks are highly encouraged.

The New Hue is a community arts organization that seeks to positively affect the

perception of men of color in Joliet. United In Excellence is an initiative of the JTHS Foundation and is named after United In Excellence (UIE), a Greek-style step-team that ran as a community and after-school program at Joliet Township High Schools, District #204 from 1996-2008.
