Scout and the Plainfield Park District are celebrating summer with a scavenger hunt!

Pick up a copy of Scout’s Building Summer Fun Guidebook at all Plainfield Park District guest services locations beginning May 15 or download a copy from www.plfdparks.org.

With the guidebook in hand you can explore the parks and learn more about the new Prairie Activity & Recreation Center (PARC) community recreation center and how you can help save energy this summer.

Once it’s completed in early 2019, the Plainfield Park District’s new PARC will be the first facility of its kind in Illinois to receive a Net Zero certification. That means that the new 40,000 square-foot building at Bott Park, 24550 W. Renwick Rd., will create as much energy as it uses each year through the use of roof top solar panels and super-efficient insulated walls and windows.

Learn more about helping the environment this summer then bring your completed guide to the Rec/Admin Center, 23729 W. Ottawa St., to win a prize.

• Building Summer Fun Guidebooks are available at all Plainfield Park District guest services including the Recreation Administration Center, 23729 W. Ottawa St., Plainfield.

• Scout Scavenger Hunt runs May 15 through September 15

While you’re visiting the parks, don’t forget to snap a photo at one of Scout’s 4 new “Summer of Smiles,” outdoor picture frame/selfie-stations.
