Romeoville - State Rep. John Connor, D-Lockport, hosted a coffee meeting Saturday at the Fountaindale Library to discuss residents’ concerns and answer questions they have about state and local issues.

“Making myself available to constituents for face-to-face conversations allows me to know what issues are most important in the communities I serve, and lets residents know that they are being heard,” Connor said. “Hosting informal coffee meetings like this help facilitate a necessary open dialog with residents of my district.”

Connor and local residents discussed issues including public safety, education funding and the state budget. Connor also had the opportunity to discuss his most recent pieces of legislation, including measures to protect children from the dangers of skin cancer and a bill that would increase reporting of opioid related deaths.

Connor will host another coffee meeting with residents on Friday, June 15 at 9 a.m. at Café Romeo, located at 345 N. Independence Blvd. in Romeoville.

“Talking to my constituents about what I’ve been working on in Springfield allows them to be a part of the legislative process,” Connor said. “Their feedback is important, and having meetings like these allow me to hear their opinions directly.”
