Four Students named Regional Champions and 13 Events Advance to Sectional Competition

The Joliet West High School Speech Team delivered record-breaking performances at the IHSA Regional Tournament held at Southland College Prep High School on February 2, 2019. Thirteen out of fourteen of the team's events are advancing to the

Sectional Competition, with students Tony Nardi (DI), Kendall Schlegel (INFO), Madi Schott (RS), and Morgan Beene (SOS) named Regional Champions.

Students advancing to the Sectional Competition include Kayla Robinson & Jared White (Dramatic Duet Acting); Tony Nardi (Dramatic Interpretation); Hannah Nordquist (Extemporaneous Speaking); Tony Nardi & Casey Snow (Humorous Duet Acting); Aliah Teclaw (Humorous Interpretation); Anna Polacek (Impromptu Speaking); Kendall Schlegel (Informative Speaking); Zoe Manning (Original Comedy); Julianna Byrne (Oratorical Declamation); Josymar Garcia (Original Oratory); Kiera Posteluk (Prose Reading); Madi Schott (Radio Speaking); and Morgan Beene (Special Occasion Speaking).

"The team's theme this year is "Don't Stop Believin'!" - and these kids haven't

stopped yet!" said Head Coach Kristin Blake.

The Joliet West High School Team students who advanced will compete on Saturday at Thornton High School for a chance to advance to the IHSA State Finals.
