The Will County Veterans Assistance Commission is partnering with the Orland Park Veterans Center to offer an important workshop specifically focused on burial and survivor benefits for veterans at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 4, 2019 at the Will County Office Building, 302 N. Chicago Street, Joliet.

“No one wants to think about losing a loved one but it is important our veterans and their families understand the benefits they are entitled to,” said Kristine McNichol, superintendent of the VAC. “Representatives from the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs will be present to share this information and guide people through the planning process.”

In addition, McNichol said information about receiving veteran’s driver’s license and automobile license plates will be available. Information about burial in the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery will also be presented.

“The goal in Will County is to offer as many ‘one-stop’ services as possible for our veterans,” McNichol said. “We continue to search for ways to partner with other veteran service agencies to offer as many opportunities at one site as possible. We sincerely appreciate the support of both the County Executive and the County Board which allows us to host these types of events for our veterans.”

Will County Executive Larry Walsh said he is proud of the tireless commitment of the VAC and its partner agencies to serve these veterans.

“More than 35,000 veterans call Will County home and I am proud of Kristi and the collaborative partnerships she is developing,” Walsh said. “We owe a huge debt to these courageous men and women who served our country.”
