IL schools remain closed
District 86 engaging students
4/1/2020, 2:28 p.m.
Illinois Governor Pritzker issued an executive order mandating all Illinois schools to remain closed through April 30, 2020. I hope this extended closure will keep you and your family safe and healthy.
I know this closure has been a sudden and unexpected shift in the way children learn, but our teachers and staff are here to assist you during this difficult time. As we move forward together, we will continue to provide weekly engaging e-learning packets to support your child’s academic growth. Although schools are closed, teachers are available each day to support you. In addition, each school has a special email address to send e-learning questions https://www.joliet86.org/students-parents/e-learning-contactinformation/.
Plans are currently in place to distribute Chromebooks to District 86 students in multiple grade levels. We are working diligently to access devices and prepare them for students. Our plan is to start distributing the devices to eighth grade students and continue with students in grade 2-5 as possible. We will keep you updated on details as soon as they are available.
Our Grab and Go meals will continue during this extended school closure. We will have Monday and Thursday pick-ups at Dirksen, Gompers, Hufford, and Washington schools. Please check our website (www.joliet86.org), as well as our Facebook and Twitter accounts, for updated pick-up and menu information.
We are here to support you during this closure. Please continue to use our Let’s Talk communication tool on the website to ask questions or leave comments. Together, we will work to make the best of this challenging situation.
