Bolingbrook - As the 2020 United States Census gets underway, state Rep. John Connor, D-Lockport, is bringing together Census Bureau staff, elected officials and local immigrant support groups to emphasize the importance of a complete count at a seminar scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 16 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 pm. at the Fountaindale Public Library, located at 300 W. Briarcliff Rd. in Bolingbrook.
“If the Census Bureau does not receive a full and accurate count of the people in the 85th District, we lose resources for our community,” Connor said. “To attract more investment in infrastructure, education and green energy in the coming decade, we need every household to complete the census this year.”
Units of government from the federal to the local level rely on census data to accurately dedicate resources and serve communities. Connor stressed that a complete and accurate count would more accurately portray the area and ensure representation in government. Thursday’s event will provide information about the 2020 United States Census and its importance. Recruitment specialists will also be present to discuss full-time and part-time job openings helping the Census Bureau’s complete count efforts.
“Our area has seen tremendous growth in recent years, which means it is critically important that we qualify for the resources that we deserve this upcoming decade,” Connor said. “I care about getting a complete count because this community needs strong representation and all of the additional funding that comes with it.”
