Old Joliet Prison to show 2 classic movies during Halloween
10/13/2020, 10:48 p.m.
The Rialto Square Theatre and Joliet Area Historical Museum are teaming up for a supernaturally spectacular outdoor movie night fundraiser, Fall Flicks in the Yard featuring two seasonally appropriate spooky classics from the 1980s, Beetlejuice (1988) and Ghostbusters (1984). Films will be shown on a four-story outdoor screen inside the walls of the Museum’s Old Joliet Prison Historic Site. In addition to the movies, the evening will include opportunities for self-guided tours throughout the prison, local food vendors, special merchandise, beverage bar, and photo ops.
In the continued wake of the COVID pandemic, museums, performing arts centers, event spaces, and concert venues have been specifically identified by the State of Illinois as heavily impacted industries,” said Greg Peerbolte, Executive Director of the Joliet Area Historical Museum. “We not only provide jobs, capture revenue and contribute to economic development, but provide cultural enrichment, education, and entertainment to our beloved community of Joliet. We are proud to partner with the iconic Rialto Square Theatre for an unique way to fulfill our missions by providing an evening of fun and film to raise much-needed capital for organizations.
In adherence with the Phase Four Guidelines of the State’s “Restore Illinois” Plan, event “seating” is a numbered, demarcated circle in the grass. Each circle comes with two admissions, and up to 4 additional tickets per circle may be purchased. Circles will be spaced at a minimum of eight-foot intervals to provide for social distancing. A circle (with two admissions) is $50.00, and additional tickets are $20.00 per person (plus associated Eventbrite fees).
Masks are required and must be worn at all times when outside of your circle.
This is an outdoor, rain-or-shine event, no refunds will be given. In the event of a cancellation, ticket holders will be credited for a future event or tour at the Old Joliet Prison for the 2021.
While the site is generally ADA compliant, if you require special accommodations, please contact: firstname.lastname@example.org or call 312-978-1282.
