Mercedes-Benz presented a concept plan for a new dealership to Village officials at the January 20th Village Board meeting.
The concept plan will be for a 40,000-square foot dealership located on 23 acres on the east side of Weber Road between Airport Road and Gaskin Drive (south of Blain’s and The Seasons). The two-story building includes a showroom, sales area, service areas, lounge and office space. The building will consist of primarily glass for a highly visible, expansive showroom, attractive building projections, and a unique roof design. The dealership will also sell Sprinter vehicles.
“We are very excited to welcome a brand of Mercedes-Benz’s caliber to Romeoville,” stated Mayor John Noak. “In addition to luxury cars, the dealership will sell commercial vans, which we feel will be of great interest to businesses throughout the region.”
“Mercedes-Benz of Romeoville has been working with the mayor and staff of the Village of Romeoville to bring a state of art full-service Mercedes-Benz auto and commercial van dealership to the village,” said David Nocera, Chief Operating Officer of Mercedes-Benz. “We are very excited to announce this new project and look forward to commencing construction in the near future.”
After review, Mercedes will move to final design approval by the Planning and Zoning Commission and Village Board. If the process continues as scheduled, construction could begin this summer with a projected opening in summer 2022.
Mercedes-Benz of Romeoville will join several other projects that are already underway or approved. These projects include the redevelopment partnership of the former Target site with Senior Services of Will County, which will include space for Silver Cross Hospital and others. Under construction adjacent to the site is The Seasons at Romeoville, offering new suburban luxury rental living. In addition, Wing Stop, Arby’s, Popeyes and a new U-Haul complex are all set to begin construction this year. Additional new project announcements, throughout the village, are anticipated this year.
