Spotlight- Kellie Allen, VVSD 5th Grade Teacher, Hermansen Elementary

Published on

Hermansen 5th Grade Teacher Kellie Allen is currently in her 28th year teaching Valley View students.  Kellie began her career at Wood View Elementary before assuming her current role as a 5th Grade teacher at Hermansen.

Beyond the curriculum, Kellie knows it is important to make certain that by the end of each school year, the students in her classroom are ready to make the move to middle school.  (Kellie goes so far as to make time for her 5th graders to get some practice opening a combination lock, because we all know that for most 5th graders, that’s their biggest concern about going to 6th grade!)

Watch the Video for a visit to an English Language Arts lesson in which students are identifying key words and learning to summarize main ideas.

Valley View School District is the district for Romeoville and Bolingbrook grade school students.
